Virgin Mary
of Mount Carmel
Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel, Whom in ancient prophecy
God revealed to Saint Elijah by an oriental sea.
Rise again on God's creation, bring to bloom this arid place
With the white cloud of thy beauty and the rainfall of thy grace.
Lady of the mystic mountain where the Lord has set his throne.
Up its steep ways of the spirit none can walk save love alone.
Grant us grace to climb Mount Carmel and to learn that love is loss;
Guide us till our ways outdistance all earth's treasures save the Cross.
Queen and beauty of Mount Carmel, Virgin of the solitude,
In the wilderness of Carmel lies the world's eternal goods.
Draw us to its deep seclusion and make God alone our goal
In the mystical Mount Carmel that lies hidden in the soul.
Virgin All-Glorious
in Heaven Serene
Virgin all glorious in heaven serene.
Beauty of Carmel, our Mother and Queen.
Here in our exile with longing we pray
Hearts full of love on this festival day.
Graces you've given, and none can compare.
Carmel is flourishing under your care.
Do not deprive us of your guiding light.
Be to us always the Star in our night.
Never abandon, O Lady this place.
Bend down the dew of your life-giving grace.
Rain that your garden may ever increase.
Blooms for your altars and joy in your peace.
Praise in the highest, to God One in Three, Who
crowned you as Queen of all ages to be.
Gave you as Mother to be at our side,
Beauty of Carmel, our joy and our pride.
