Welcome to the St. Teresa Contemplative Prayer App
The Contemplate app introduces users to Contemplative prayer and the prayer approaches suggested by two of the greatest teachers of prayer in the Christian tradition, St. Teresa of Avila's Prayer of Recollection and her counterpart St. John of the Cross's Prayer of Loving Attention.
"Entering into contemplative prayer is like entering into the Eucharistic liturgy: we "gather up:" the heart, recollect our whole being under the prompting of the Holy Spirit, abide in the dwelling place of the Lord which we are, awaken our faith in order to enter into the presence of him who awaits us. We let our masks fall and turn our hearts back to the Lord who loves us, so as to hand ourselves over to him as an offering to be purified and transformed." (Catechism of the Catholic Church 2711)
The App includes links to the Discalced Carmelite Order and the Catholic Church, prayer resources such as prayer timers, a Visio Divina image gallery, Contemplative Digital Rosary featuring Discalced Carmelites, the Brigittine/Carmelite Rosary, the Liturgy of the Hours, and more.
We are constantly working to improve our content and features, so please check back regularly for updates.
What I now want to counsel you about (I can even say teach you, because as a Mother, having the office of prioress I'm allowed to teach) is how you must pray. - St. Teresa of Ávila, The Way of Perfection, 24.2
If anyone is seeking God, the Beloved is seeking that person much more. - St. John of the Cross, Living Flame, 3.59
